Meister Eckhart: A Mystic Warrior for Our Time
Meister Eckhart: A Mystic Warrior for Our Time
Like Rumi, Meister Eckhart's thinking was deeply ecumenical, encompassing wisdom that one can find in mystical traditions as well as in shamanism and indigenous spirituality. Eckhart advocated for social, economic, and gender justice; championed an earth-based spirituality and a cosmic consciousness, and taught how we are all artists whose vocation is to birth the Cosmic Christ (or Buddha Nature). While Fox recognizes that Eckhart has influenced everyone from Julian of Norwich to Eckhart Tolle, Karl Marx to Carl Jung, and Annie Dillard to Anne Morrow Lindbergh, he also wants to introduce Eckhart to today's activists addressing contemporary crises. Toward that end, Fox creates dialogues between Eckhart and Carl Jung, Thich Nhat Hanh, Rabbi Heschel, Black Elk, Karl Marx, Rumi, Adrienne Rich, Dorothee Soelle, David Korten, Anita Roddick, and many others.
